The fifth annual MGS Entertainment Show was a resounding success, with the largest number of visits yet, many huge international companies exhibiting alongside smaller regional players, and greatly influential industry experts speaking at the summit. The event lived up to its promise as a newly-designated UFI Approved International Event. In total, the show saw over 15,000 visits and hosted 162 exhibitors from the broad-based entertainment industry, and the concurrent three-day summit featured 41 sessions of talks and discussions by industry leaders from across Asia.
Exhibitors from large gaming-related companies, peripheral suppliers, and small cottage industries shared the show floor to give visitors a tour of rapidly-developing information, robotics and gaming technologies alongside regional and local artisanal creative industries. Mr. Jay Chun, Chairman of the Macau Gaming Equipment Manufacturers Association, said that the primary focus of this year’s show was to go beyond the gaming sector and highlight diversified offerings. Mr. Chun emphasized, “With the 2016 edition of MGS Entertainment Show – Creativity & Innovation received the Innovative Exhibition Award from the Macao Convention and Exhibition Commendation Awards earlier and the achievements of this year’s MGS, I am sure that we will be able to make greater success in the future, not only bringing a more informative exhibition but also contributing to facilitate more trades in Macao.”
Also at the show, two important partnerships were signed. At the opening ceremony, Mr. Chun signed an agreement with Yang Zhen, General Manager of Sina Games, to cooperate in hosting an e-sports session next year. Additionally, an agreement between Sina Games and the Macau E-sports Association is intended to bring e-sports tournaments to Macau—a development that could have a huge impact on the city’s stature and international recognition.
MGEMA would like to thank the central government, the SAR government, the Macau community, event co-organizers, supporting entities, sponsors and all exhibitors and participants for their support for the MGS Entertainment Show 2017. We are looking forward to another great show next year and to continuing working together to promote trade in Macau.
